Jim McGinley is currently the Chief of Police for the City of El Centro. He has over 32 years of law enforcement experience in Southern California. Prior to coming to El Centro, Jim spent his last 7 years as a Commanding Officer for the San Diego Police Department. His last assignment prior to retiring from SDPD in 2005 was the Commanding Officer in charge of Investigations II which included Homicide, Robbery, Gangs, Financial Crimes, Auto Theft and Elder Abuse. Jim has an extensive background in law enforcement, community policing, training and practical application.
Jim has a Bachelor of Science degree in Public Administration in Criminal Justice and a Master of Science degree in Adult Instructional Leadership from National University. He holds a California Life Time Teaching credential for adult education and has extensive instructional experience at the community college level.
