Police Reserve - Minimum Requirements

The following are the minimum requirements to apply for the position of Police Reserve Officer with El Centro Police Department:

  • Shall be a United States Citizen
  • Shall NOT have been convicted of a felony offense
  • Should be at least 18 years of age, but not older than 55 years of age
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Must be in good Moral Character and have maintained good driving, credit and employment record
  • Must have a Class 3 Driver's License
  • Medical Standards: Vision: must meet P.O.S.T. standards. Acceptable color vision. Non-impaired hearing. Weight and Height proportions

The following is the procedure to become a Police Reserve Officer with El Centro Police Department

  • Shall submit an Application
  • Shall submit to a background check and provide all information necessary to perform this check
  • Shall submit to a physical examination, psychological examination and a drug screen test
  • Shall receive approval of the El Centro Police Department, Chief of Police and Reserve Coordinator
  • Shall be duly certified by the California P.O.S.T., or within an established amount of time meet the requirements for certification
  • Shall be sworn in by the City Clerk
