The "Original" Community Oriented Policing
Purpose
The purpose of the PAX Team Program within the El Centro Police Department is to provide support for various functions within the Department, while increasing the level of service to the community.
PAX Team members serve as an important link in establishing unity and interaction between the Department and the Community.
What are PAX Team Members ?

A group of concerned citizens trained to assist law enforcement. Men and women who make a difference in the community by volunteering their time to help fight crime.

PAX Team Members are trained to call in suspicious situations on their Police Radio. PAX Team Members DO NOT carry weapons.

PAX Team Members Duties

PAX Team Members patrol city streets, parks and schools. They serve as additional eyes and ears for the El Centro Police Department. Some duties include:

  • Vacation House Checks
  • Monitor Schools
  • Transport Equipment
  • Report Abandoned Autos
  • Issue Citations
  • Locate Missing Children
  • Secure Crime Scenes
  • Deal with Parking Problems
  • Crowd and Traffic Control

People interested in serving as PAX Team Members will be interviewed and participate in a selection process. It is expected that volunteers will work various functions and call-outs as assigned.

They will carry an ID card and wear apparel that identifies them as a member of the El Centro Police Department. They will attend monthly meetings and Department functions.

They will wear with pride the title of PAX Team Member with the El Centro Police Department.

PAX Team Members receive classroom training. All training is conducted by El Centro Police Department personnel. Some topics covered include:
  • Dept. Policies & Procedures
  • Patrol Skills and Observation
  • Radio Communication
  • Gang & Narcotics Information
  • Crowd & Traffic Control
  • Crime Scene Security
  • First Aid and CPR
  • Safe Driving Skills
  • Citation Procedures
  • Subpoena Service

Potential Candidates must meet the following minimum criteria:
  • 18 Years of Age
  • No serious Criminal History
  • Possess a Valid California Drivers License
  • Possess enthusiasm, drive and interest in making a difference in our community
