In addition, our Investisgations unit has come across some bad checks that have been reproduced with low cost computer equipment. When acepting a check, please verify that the check has NO double print on neither the name, nor the account information. Some of the bad checks we received (as evidence), have double print on the account information and the paper is of cheap material.
If you receive checks in your business, be extremely vigilant and please consider the following safety tips:
  * Check for CURRENT and VALID Photo Identification
  * Write the ID number on Check
  * Match the Photo ID with the person passing the Check
  * Consider obtaining an inkless thumbprint of subject cashing check
