 El Centro Aquatic Center
As our county progresses into less restrictive tiers and athletics are cleared to return, the El Centro Aquatic Center became the training facility for four Imperial Valley High School Swim Teams: Central Spartans, Southwest Eagles, Imperial Tigers and the Holtville Vikings. These high school swim teams practice Monday - Friday at the Aquatic Center and compete on Tuesdays and Thursdays. The Aquatic Center also hosts the only year round swim club of the Imperial Valley - the Imperial Valley Desert Aquatics (IVDA). The Imperial Valley Desert Aquatics Swim Club is the USA Swim Club of the Imperial Valley and offers year round swimming, coaching and instructing. Swim lessons, Jr. Lifeguard Camps, and Lifeguard certifications are all being offered through the American Red Cross. Scholarships are available.
In celebration of Mardi Gras, a virtual Mad Dash and Swim 5k was held and there were a total of 336 participants that celebrated Mardi Gras by either running, walking, cycling and swimming the distance for the Mardi Gras Mad Dash and Swim 5k.
