The El Centro Fire Department provides suppression and emergency medical services to an ethnically diverse and effervescent population of El Centro.
Since the department was organized in 1908, it has transformed from a department centrally focused on providing fire suppression services to an organization that has evolved and now provides services such as emergency services, fire prevention, fire codes enforcement, hazardous materials, and public education to simply name a few.
El Centro is situated in the southern most part of California. It is located 128 miles east of San Diego, 60 miles west of Yuma, Arizona and just 10 miles north of Mexicali, Mexico. It is accessible via Interstate 8, State Highway 86 and State Highway 111.
