City of El Centro Local Government

Sanders, Ben Solomon, and Cheryl Viegas-Walker The City of El Centro was incorporated on April 16, 1908, and is operated by a Council/Manager form of government. The members of the City Council are also the Community Development Commission (Commission) and the Redevelopment Agency (Agency) governing boards. The City Manager is empowered as the Executive Director of the Commission and the Agency. The City Council is the governing body of the El Centro Municipal Government. The City Council is composed of five elected Council members who serve four year terms. The City Council selects a Council member each year to serve as Mayor for a one year term.
