 Community Development Block Grant Program

Request for Proposals

Since 2004 the City of El Centro has spent more than $12.5 million in Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funds to target community development needs in the City of El Centro.

For fiscal year 2018/2019, the City expects to receive a direct allocation from the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) of approximately $463,642 and approximately $30,000 in State Program Income. On page 1 of the enclosed application is a summary of the eligible activities under the CDBG Program.  We have also included the estimated amount of funding available for the three primary eligible activities (program administration costs, public services, and other eligible community projects). This program year the City anticipates having approximately $22,296 available for Public Services.

The El Centro City Council has directed City staff to encourage potential applicants interested in submitting proposals for funding consideration in the 2018/2019 CDBG program cycle to consider the priority that was established when submitting proposals.  Applications submitted solely to cover personnel cost are strongly discouraged from being submitted.

The Economic Development Division of the City of El Centro is accepting applications for the CDBG Program for fiscal year 2018/2019 (07/101/2018 - 06/30/2017).  Eligible non-profits interested in applying for CDBG funds must submit the enclosed application to the City of El Centro, Economic Development Division, 1249 Main Street, El Centro, CA 92243.

APPLICATIONS FOR PROGRAM YEAR 2018/2019 MUST BE RECEIVED NO LATER THAN 5:00 p.m., on Friday, January 5, 2018 in order to be considered for inclusion in the City of El Centro’s upcoming Action Plan.  All applications must be submitted on the attached application form.
