NOTICE OF ACCEPTANCE OF REQUEST FOR PROPSALS FOR THE CITY OF EL CENTRO'S 2017-2018 COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT BLOCK GRANT (CDBG0 ENTITLEMENT PROGRAM UNDER THE U.S. DEPARTMENT OF HOUSING AND URBAN DEVELOPMENT
 
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the City of El Centro will be accepting Request for Proposals (RFP) for the 2017-2018 CDBG Entitlement Program under the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban (DUH) beginning November 16, 2016 and ending January 6, 2017.
 
The primary purpose of the program is to improve communities by providing decent housing, a suitable living enviornment and expanding economic oppurtunities, primarily for low and moderate-income people. The eligible activities include housing assistance, public improvements and facilities, public services, and economic development. Funds are provided directly to grantees (i.e., cities and counties) and it is anticipated that during 2017/2018 (07/01/17-06/30/18) the City of El Centro will receive approximately $484,136.
 
Applications must be received by no later than 5:00 pm, on Friday, January 6, 2017 in the Economic Development Division located at 1249 Main Street, El Centro, CA.
 
Postmarks are not acceptable. The interested agency is responsible for obtaining an RFP application by contacting the Department of Community Services - Economic Development Division at 760-337-4543 or visiting our office between the hours 8:00 am - 5:00 pm Monday through Friday. The RFP application is also available on the City's website and can be viewed and/or downloaded at www.cityofelcentro.org.

 Quality of Life Matters Newsletter
 
The Community Services Department publishes a newsletter that provides updates on the latest City projects as well as information that the public can use for their benefit. The previously named newsletter was "Economic Development Matters". In 2014 as, the City of El Centro consolidated the Economic Development Department with Parks and Recreation, and the El Centro Public Library, the department was renamed Community Services Department, and the newsletter was renamed "Quality of Life Matters." Graffiti Removal Program
 
The City of El Centro through its Economic Development Division takes action to eradicate the graffiti that is blight in our city. It is the responsibility of all property owners in the City of El Centro tor remove graffiti that occurs on porperty they may own. To assist property owners in removing graffiti, the City of El Centro and its Economic Development Division have developed a graffiti removal program. Participation in this program is voluntary and free. To participate in this program, the property owner, and or his/her authorized representative must sign the consent form below to allow permission to enter private property to cover the graffity that closely matches teh color of the building. If a property owner has matching paint, please contact the Economic Development office below and we can make arrangements. The City welcomes and encourages residents and businesses to become actively involved in graffiti abatement.
