Election Notice

 

NOMINATION FILING PERIOD HAS BEEN EXTENDED TO 5:00 P.M. ON WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 15, 2018.

 

Election Information   

The next City of El Centro General Municipal Election is scheduled for Tuesday, November 6, 2018.

 

City Council Candidates

Two (2) Council Member seats will be up for election on November 6, 2018.  Council Members are elected to serve four-year terms. 

 

Eligibility

To be eligible to run for office, a candidate must be 18 years of age, a citizen of the United States, a resident and registered voter of the City.  For voter registration information, please contact the Imperial County Registrar of Voters at (442) 265-1060.

 

Nomination Period

The nomination period for candidates opens on Monday, July 16, 2018 at 8:00 a.m.

and closes at 5:00 p.m. on August 10, 2018*.  During nomination period, the Office of the City Clerk, 1275 Main Street, El Centro,  shall issue and accept nomination documents during regular business hours of Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.   

 

*Please note: If an incumbent fails to submit nomination papers by this deadline,

non-incumbent candidates will have until 5:00 p.m. on August 15, 2018 to file nomination papers.

 

Filing Obligations

Candidates who intend to file nomination papers during the nomination period may incur filing obligations prior to the nomination period. 

 

Form 501      Candidate Intention Statement – Must be filed before soliciting or receiving any contributions, or before making expenditures on behalf of a candidacy.

 

Form 410      Statement of Organization of Recipient Committee:  Must be filed within 10 days of receiving $2,000 in contributions.
