The Building Department disseminates information related to construction codes, ordinances, construction plan preparation, and plan review. The Building Department reviews, and approves construction plans, issues a variety of permits, and conducts field inspections to assure compliance with applicable city and state regulations for building activities. |

EFFECTIVE JANUARY 1, 2008ALL APPLICATIONS FOR CITY OF EL CENTRO BUILDING PERMIT/PLAN REVIEW SUBMITTED ON OR AFTER JANUARY 1, 2008, SHALL BE REQUIRED TO COMPLY WITH THE 2007 CALIFORNIA CODES. BUILDING PERMIT PERMIT/PLAN REVIEW APPLICATIONS SUBMITTED PRIOR TO JANUARY 1, 2008, WILL BE PROCESSED UNDER THE EXISTING CODE. APPLICANTS SHALL HAVE 180 DAYS FROM DATE OF APPLICATION TO COMPLETE PROCESS AND OBTAIN REQUIRED PERMITS, OR SHALL BE REQUIRED TO RESUBMIT APPLICATIONS AND BE REQUIRED TO COMPLY WITH THE NEWLY ADOPTED 2007 CODES.
